Five solos and one Tandem ‘Tart’ Trike signed on for our club 10, the day’s showers apparently having given way to evening sunshine. However the black clouds were gathering, and sure enough, once out on the course, the rain and hail started to fall, with roads awash, and soon followed by thunder and lightning on the 3-mile ride back across the heath to Lyndhurst car park.
Conditions were however, very fast, with Pat Lafford winning in 23:22, nearly 2 minutes faster than two weeks ago.- and after doing the start timekeeping too! Sotonia’s Jon Legg was 2nd in 24:14. Our three remaining competitors, all riding their first-ever TT, each beat ‘evens’ and hope to return on a more pleasant evening!
Sotonia’s Mary Corbett, riding with Sharon Ardley, partner No.88 in her ‘Tandem Tart’ challenge, recorded a speedy 31:12 on their tandem trike Bonnie, seemingly relishing the conditions, even the ‘son et lumiere’!
