The first event on the revised P164 course, which certainly isn’t any easier than the previous version, produced some very fast times in our second event of the season.  Although it was hardly a warm evening, a complete turnaround of wind direction from 2 weeks ago made for very much faster times.

Fastest was Oliver Hurdle of Southampton University Road Club, with a stunning 20:27, followed by team-mate Jordan Giles in 20:57.  Winner from last event, Matt Gilmour VC Venta, improved to 21:38 to take 3rd place, followed by UTAG Veteran Ian Patterson with 22:06.

Lucy Gadd of Storey racing, produced a super-fast 22:56 for 6th place – this is actually faster than the official women’s course record (open events) , though Julia Shaw has gone a shade faster in club events.

Thanks to our timekeepers  Martin Napier (Sotonia CC) and Roy Budd, and our marshal  John Sanchez-Bisson.

Thanks to all the riders who shouted their numbers clearly as they crossed the line!
